SUMMARY:Marc McVey\, Paris in Black and White and Color Summer Member’s Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Marc McVey\, Paris in Black and White and Color Summer Member’s Exhibit \nJuly 12 – August 6\, 2025\nOpening: July 12th\, 4-7 pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery & Fine Printing\n1045 Marine Drive\nAstoria\, Oregon 97103\n(503) 468-0238\nHours: Wednesday – Saturday 12 pm to 5 pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery opens The LightBox Summer Member’s Exhibit and Marc McVey’s exhibit “Paris in Black and White and Color” from 4-7pm on Saturday. July 12th. “Paris is a city that has ignited the passions of artists for centuries. From painters and sculpturers\, to writers\, dancers\, and musicians\, Paris rewards all forms of efforts to memorialize her. From the early 1900s\, the camera has allowed a new breed of artists to add their voice to describe this world city. \nI have been lucky to “see” Paris over three decades and twenty plus visits. With my camera and a good pair of walking shoes\, I am attempting to add my efforts to take you to this city and show you a few frames of what I have seen. My photographs reflect my personal vision and perhaps will inspire a smile or a pause in your day and a conversation later. Take a small journey with me\, find a story or two with my images.” \nComplete show info is on the LightBox website\, http://lightbox-photographic.c…. LightBox always features work from The Guild at LightBox consisting of Jim Fitzgerald\, Jody Miller\, Julie Moore\, Marc McVey\, Rachel Wolf\, Kathy Radie\, Michael Puff and Loren Nelson. Contact LightBox at 503-468-0238. LightBox is located at 1045 Marine Drive\, Wed. – Sat.\, 12 – 5:00pm.

SUMMARY:Christopher Rauschenberg\, Gathering: A Photographer’s Collection
DESCRIPTION:Christopher Rauschenberg\, Gathering: A Photographer’s Collection \nJuly 26 – November 23\, 2025 \nJordan Schnitzer Museum of Art\n1430 Johnson Lane\, Eugene\, OR 97403\n541-346-3027\nWednesdays 11am – 8pm\, Thursdays through Sundays 11am – 5pm \nGathering: A Photographer’s Collection presents a wide-ranging selection of photographs from the personal collection of Portland\, Oregon based photographer and curator\, Christopher Rauschenberg. Over five decades\, Rauschenberg has compiled a truly distinctive archive of photographs encompassing a wide array of themes\, styles\, uses of the medium\, and range of subjects and content. This important resource represents a diverse mix of international and nationally emerging and established photographers. \nRauschenberg typically acquires photographs directly from the artists or from non-profit community-based arts organizations exhibiting or representing their works. \nRauschenberg has also traveled extensively and participated for decades as a highly regarded reviewer of photography portfolios at international gatherings of specialists who utilize and support opportunities for working creative photographers. \nIn Gathering\, one will find a wealth of individual points of view that\, when engaged\, may broaden each of our own visions: whether those considered perspectives are personal\, familiar\, social\, cultural\, political\, or spiritual. \nChristopher Rauschenberg reflects on his building of the collection: \n“At the core of what I’m doing is acquiring prints directly from photographers. That’s where I get my real satisfaction in collecting. With photography\, one literally sees the world through someone else’s eyes\, and we each have a different way of looking at the world around us. Having seen the work of thousands of photographers\, I’ve had a great many opportunities to discover new ways of seeing. That has really been the primary enrichment of my life\, and I am excited to share that with you through this exhibition.” \nGathering: A Photographer’s Collection was curated by JSMA Associate Curator of Photography\, Thom Sempere.
