SUMMARY:Kris Davidson\, American Timescapes
DESCRIPTION:Kris Davidson\, American Timescapes\n \nOpen/Close: October 4th\, 2024 – November 27th\, 2024\nOpening Reception l Artist Talk: October 4th\, 2024 6-8pm \nPUSHDOT STUDIO\n2505 SE 11th Avenue\, Suite 104\nPortland\, OR 97202\n503.224.5925 \nGallery Hours: Mon-Fri. 8:30am to 5:00pm\, free admission \nKris Davidson | AMERICAN TIMESCAPES \nStories are the pillars of the self\, revealing who we have been\, who we are\, and who we are becoming — yet they remain intangible\, sliding across time and shapeshifting between fact and fiction. In my work\, I am primarily concerned with the translation of stories across time\, an investigation that draws me toward the concept of deep time. Through my photographic collages — slicing and reorganizing slivers of frozen time — I explore how our stories might inhabit the past\, present\, and future simultaneously. \nIn “American Timescapes\,” I address the ephemerality of the American experience across deep time. Each piece in this series is constructed from three separate photographs of a landscape or region\, taken minutes\, hours\, days\, or even years apart. These images are then cut\, folded\, and combined to form 3-dimensional photo sculptures that visualize a compressing of time. \nAs we confront the realities of climate change and accelerate toward numerous technological breakthroughs — from gene editing to advances in AI and expanded space exploration — the narratives we create will shape who we are becoming. “American Timescapes” is an invitation to reflect on our relationship with all of time — the past\, the present\, and the deep future — and to reconsider how we are crafting the story of our existence. \nKris Davidson\, a native of Sweden\, spent her childhood between the Scandinavian subarctic and Texas. She spent 15 years as an editorial photographer before transitioning to an artistic practice that explores how stories are translated across the past\, present\, and future. Using collage and mixed media on photographic prints\, Kris delves into storytelling and memory across deep time. \nHer photography has been featured in National Geographic Traveler\, Lonely Planet Traveler\, and other major publications. Prior to her photography career\, Kris worked as a branding professional in the San Francisco Bay Area for eight years. She is also an experienced educator\, having collaborated with the National Geographic Society and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. \nKris holds a BA from Loyola University in New Orleans and is currently pursuing an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, expected in 2025. She is based in Seattle\, Washington. \nwww.krisdavidson.com

SUMMARY:Ron Dobrowski\, Silver Gelatin Retro
DESCRIPTION:Ron Dobrowski\, Silver Gelatin Retro \nOctober 4 – October 30\, 2024\nArtist reception on Saturday October 5 from 1-5 pm (calendar) \nThe O’Brien Photo Gallery\n2833 Willamette\, Ste. B\nEugene\, OR 97405\n(541) 729-3572\nOpen Monday through Friday from 1-5 pm.\nCall to be sure we are open\nhttps://www.waltobrien.net/the… \n\nMontana is where my photographic journey began. My early years were spent on a farm in the rural eastern edge of the state. I went on to study and earn a degree in photography at Montana State University. It was there that I was convinced of photography’s enormous importance as a medium for communication and self expression. I was also drawn to the combination of technical knowledge and aesthetic considerations needed to achieve any level of competence in the media. \nMy technical approach to black & white photography follows traditional\, film based techniques. Medium format film cameras are used as well as a traditional darkroom where I develop the film and print the photographs. Selenium toning is used on all but the smallest prints to enhance the final appearance and to increase the archival qualities of the image. These are methods that I have employed since studying photography at MSU. \nMy photographs are produced in numbered\, limited editions and are matted and framed using archival materials. Although my technical approach is ‘old school’\, I strive to produce contemporary artworks that show a unique vision\, emphasizes content and evoke a response on various levels. \nI work out of my home and studio in Springfield\, Oregon. \nSilver Gelatin – what is it? \nSilver Gelatin photography methods were developed in the 19th century and became the standard way of producing black & white photographs for much of the 20th century. It has a rich tradition of journalistic as well creative fine art photography that spans several decades. Well known mid century artists such as Edward Weston\, Dorothea Lange\, Ansel Adams\, Imogen Cunningham\, and countless others produced a lifetime’s work using silver gelatin as their primary photographic process. \nThe term ‘silver gelatin’ refers to the coating on the photographic paper which consists of light sensitive silver halides suspended in a flexible gelatin emulsion. It is this coating that enables the paper to reveal an image when exposed to light\, usually passed through a black & white negative\, and then processed in chemistry consisting of a developer\, stop bath and fixer. It’s science and chemistry but it seems like magic.

SUMMARY:Thalia by Robert Adams
DESCRIPTION:Thalia by Robert Adams \nOctober 12th – December 7th\, 2024\nOpening: Saturday\, October 12th \nLightBox Photographic Gallery opens Thalia by Robert Adams on Saturday\, October 12th. \nLightBox invites you to the opening day of this monumental exhibit and book release celebration. The exhibit runs through December 7\, 2024. This exhibit will not be seen on the website\, it is in person only.  \nYears ago\, Robert and Kerstin Adams bought from the Metropolitan Museum a reproduction of a Roman portrait of the Greek goddess Thalia\, a muse for pastoral poets. They kept it on top of a bookcase as a reminder of the classical inheritance that we all share. Recently\, they moved it temporarily to a spot next to the front window in their living room\, and discovered in the brighter light qualities that inspired them. Robert photographed the sculpture for two days at various hours. What most impressed them was the portrait’s serenity. \nThalia by Robert Adams has been released as a hard cover book by Fraenkel Gallery\, San Francisco. It is the honor of LightBox Photographic Gallery to host the exhibit Thalia by Robert Adams with the original Silver Gelatin prints created from the negatives. It is also the honor of Gallery director Michael Granger to have assisted Robert with this project by printing the original work at Robert’s request and direction. The exhibit Thalia opens at LightBox Photographic Gallery on Saturday\, October 12th and exhibits through December 7th. \nRobert Adams (b.1937) has been a photographer for sixty years. His work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts\, the Guggenheim Foundation\, and the MacArthur Foundation\, and has resulted in more than fifty publications. Retrospective exhibitions of his photographs have been held at the Yale University Art Gallery\, the Philadelphia Museum of Art\, and\, most recently\, at the National Gallery of Art.

SUMMARY:Loren Nelson - Found Subject(s) Matter
DESCRIPTION:Loren Nelson – Found Subject(s) Matter\n\nOctober 12th – November 6th\, 2024\nOpening: Saturday\, October 12th 4-7pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery & Fine Printing\n1045 Marine Drive\nAstoria\, Oregon 97103\n(503) 468-0238\nHours: Wednesday – Saturday 12 pm to 5 pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery opens Loren Nelson • Found Subject(s) Matter from 4-7pm on Saturday\, October 12th. LightBox invites you to share the night with LightBox Guild member Loren Nelson who exhibits a masterful collection of work in the LightBox Upper Gallery. The exhibit runs through November 6\, 2024. \n“Walking with a friend down an alleyway on our way to lunch\, I stumbled upon a patch of sunlight reflected from a parked van onto the pavement in the shadow of a neighboring building. While exploring the visual possibilities of a pile of fishing nets on a dock in Astoria\, I encountered the rusty hull of a vessel under repair. During a stay at my son’s flat in London\, I became fascinated by the constantly shifting reflections inside a lampshade. These moments of discovery are always unexpected and delightfully surprising. \nIn my photography\, I don’t actively search for images. Such an approach often leads to disappointment when visual opportunities don’t appear. Instead\, I prefer to immerse myself in environments where I am more likely to be invited by Spirit to photograph. I remain open and receptive\, grateful when these visual gifts present themselves. Often\, though\, I am greeted by something entirely random and unexpected\, which catches me off guard and inspires a response. The images in this show are some of my favorite examples of these serendipitous encounters.” \n~ Loren Nelson \nFor over 45 years Loren Nelson has photographed with a Deardorff 4X5 view camera and film\, and used a traditional darkroom to produce selenium-toned silver gelatin prints. Recently\, he has also incorporated a digital workflow\, using 35mm digital cameras and an iPhone to respond more spontaneously to his surroundings. Along with his darkroom work\, he prints his images on fine-art papers\, using archival pigment inks. Ongoing bodies of work include Pacific Northwest landscapes\, seascapes\, driftwood studies\, botanicals\, and Wasteland\, a series on plastic-wrapped landscapes. Loren Nelson’s photographs are in numerous public and private collections\, including the Portland Art Museum; the Hallie Ford Museum of Art; Salem\, Oregon; and the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts; Tampa\, FL. He is represented by the Portland Art Museum/Rental Sales Gallery in Portland\, OR\, and LightBox Photographic Gallery in Astoria\, OR. His work has been published in View Camera\, LensWork\, B&W\, Shots\, and Analog Forever Magazines. Loren is a member of the LightBox Photographic Guild.

SUMMARY:Carbon Transfer Workshop with Jim Fitzgerald
DESCRIPTION:Carbon Transfer Workshop with Jim Fitzgerald \nOctober 25\, 26 and 27\, 2024 \nLightBox Photographic Gallery\n1045 Marine Dr.\nAstoria\, OR 97103\n(503) 468-0238\nlightbox-photographic.com\nWednesday – Saturday\, 12 – 5:00pm \nCost: $499 including all materials \nWe have scheduled our next Carbon Transfer Workshop with Jim Fitzgerald. The workshop is completely hands on and intensive in learning and practicing all the steps required to make beautiful Carbon Transfer Prints. Please join us! \nCarbon Transfer prints display an incredible tonal range\, the emulsion forms a relief in the surface of the print which creates a feeling of dimension\, and the carbon pigmented emulsion is stable and will not fade for 10000 years. They are produced as contact prints from in camera and or digital negs. \n“In this workshop we will cover the fundamentals of the process of carbon transfer printing and you will learn about the materials needed\, how to make the pigmented gelatin called “glop”\, how to pour the warm gelatin onto the temporary support which is called tissue\, sensitize the tissue with Ammonium Dichromate\, expose the tissue to a UV light source\, transfer the tissue to the final support paper\, develop the image in the hot water bath and techniques for finishing the print. This sounds like a daunting task with many steps but do not worry. With my guidance I will take you through these steps and explain how everything is in balance with each other. It sounds harder than it is\, trust me! Most of all we will have a great deal of fun! I absolutely love what I do and love to pass on my knowledge to future carbon printers or even satisfy the curiosity of “how is it done?” The process is a contact printing process and we will be using 8×10 negatives. I use 8×10 film negatives and I will bring some to print. All of the materials will be provided. All I ask is to bring your enthusiasm\, curiosity and willingness to learn one of the finest printing process I have ever discovered. \nThe cost for the workshop is $499\, with all materials provided! \n\nTo register or for more information\, contact Michael Granger at LightBox (503) 468-0238\, or email michael@lightbox-photographic.com

She is happily married to her Shakespeare scholar husband\, Peter\, and they are ruled by two cats in a house not too far from the Willamette River. She is an avid hiker and backpacker as well as a passionate home cook. Her favorite city is Paris. \n“I am interested in photographing those dreamlike moments between worlds; the hour before dark\, windows that open into mysterious or suggestive interiors; the shore between sea and land—moments where one world somehow comes to an end and flows into something new. \nIn my photography\, I attempt to make things look as if they were imbued with a dramatic underlying force. I photograph to discover traces of the luminous fingerprints of the divine. \nPhotography takes me out of my head and into the world of light and shadow\, form and composition. \nI seek source imagery–those images that for me are emerging from some fresh well of dreams. To seek source imagery is to surface my most forgotten images and to express them in my art. I use blur\, double exposure\, tintype\, gilded vellum\, brushed aluminum and other methods that suggest memory\, dream\, and reflection. To surface and express source imagery is my challenge\, and that is my journey now.” \nhttps://mindonfire.us/about-wr…

SUMMARY:Franka M. Gabler - Whispers of Nature
DESCRIPTION:Franka M. Gabler – Whispers of Nature \nNov. 5th-27th\nOpening Reception during the Second Friday Art Walk\, Nov. 8th from 5-7:30pm.\nArtist’s Talk is on the following Saturday\, Nov. 9th starting at 1pm at the Emerald Art Center \nEmerald Art Center\n500 Main St\, Springfield\, OR 97477\nPhone: (541) 726-8595\n11 a.m. – 4 – p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed Thanksgiving and black Friday)\nwww.emeraldartcenter.org\nFree and open to the public \nFor many years the photographer\, Franka M. Gabler has been drawing inspiration from subtle\, moody\, often intimate landscapes. Her compositions are somewhere between detail or abstract\, and the wider view\, beyond mere documentation of a particular location. Such compositions allow her to isolate unique scenes that speak to her\, from otherwise well-known places. \nWhen in nature\, Franka follows her intuition to see what entices her and draws her attention\, hoping to recognize a simple story to capture the essence of the place. She’s inherently drawn to smaller\, more intimate scenes that capture the spirit of a place\, particularly to quiet and moody scenes. Snow\, mist\, fog\, and even haze are her favorite conditions to photograph since they add a little extra to the composition – a bit of atmosphere and mood. To her\, the composition is more than just a choice of subject and distribution of key elements of the scene. It also includes exposure decisions\, and choice of light\, color\, contrast\, and weather – all these elements are particularly helpful in depicting mood and capturing the essence. \nThe exhibit “Whispers of Nature” includes photographs of smaller\, evocative scenes from California – primarily Yosemite and Eastern Sierra – the places she knows well and with which she has developed an emotional connection. Sometimes it’s about capturing subtle light\, colors\, and contrast. Other times it’s about capturing her experience in nature when making the images: the softness and silence of the falling snow\, or a quiet time in a forest\, observing nature that is preparing for rest. \nFranka will be giving a presentation “Conveying Mood and Emotion” on November 9\, 2024\, at 1 pm at the Emerald Arty Center\, Springfield\, OR. The event is open to the public. \nAward-winning photographer and scientist\, Franka M. Gabler\, developed a fascination\, admiration\, and respect for nature early in her lifetime. Franka strives to convey mood and capture the essence of the scenes she photographs. Her photographs are ethereal and often evoke sentimental feelings. \nFranka’s photographs have been recognized internationally. In 2022 she was the overall winner of the Landscape Photography World Awards. In 2021 she received the 2021 First Place award for the ‘Intimate and Abstract category of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards\, and in 2023 she was recognized as a Highly Commended Photographer of the Year. Her photographs have been published in several books and publications. Her black & white portfolio “Expressive Yosemite” is published in Issue No. 159 of the LensWork Photography Magazine. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibits and is represented in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. She’s a photography instructor for Out of Chicago Photography Conferences. \nFranka lives in the Sierra foothills\, in the small mountain town of Coarsegold\, not far from Yosemite National Park. SUMMARY:Julie Moore - Connected at LightBox Photographic Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Julie Moore – Connected at LightBox Photographic Gallery \nNovember 9th – December 11th\, 2024\nOpening: Saturday\, November 9th 4-7pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery & Fine Printing\n1045 Marine Drive\nAstoria\, Oregon 97103\n(503) 468-0238\nHours: Wednesday – Saturday 12 pm to 5 pm \n\nLightBox Photographic Gallery opens Julie Moore • Connected from 4-7pm on Saturday\, November 9th. \nLightBox invites you to share the night with LightBox Guild member Julie Moore who exhibits a unique collection of work in the LightBox Upper Gallery. The exhibit runs through December 11\, 2024. \n“In this work\, I explore the intricate tapestry of connection through the symbolism of red threads and the intimate gestures we share with one another. Each element serves as a metaphor for the unseen bonds that link us\, weaving together our experiences\, emotions\, and vulnerabilities within and across species. \nThe red thread\, often associated with protection and connection\, symbolizes the ties that bind us to one another\, even across distances. It speaks to the idea that our relationships\, though sometimes fragile\, are woven with strength and resilience\, reminding us that our shared experiences can create profound ties that transcend time and space. \nThrough this work\, I invite viewers to consider their own threads of connection—what binds them to others\, how they navigate their relationships\, and the protective layers they create. The interplay of color\, form\, and gesture in my work serves as a reminder of the beauty found in our interconnected lives. \n“Connected” seeks to illuminate the power of these invisible ties and to celebrate the shared experience that unites us all. May we honor the red threads that connect us\, the lifelines that sustain us\, and the promises we make that echo through our hearts.” \n~ Julie Moore \nJulie Moore has been creating her evocative style of art for just shy of a decade. Though she has no formal training in photography\, Julie has felt captivated by the visual arts throughout her life. She was first inspired to pick up a camera many years ago while visiting Ireland in the company of a shaman\, and she has been photographing the beauty of her world ever since. Perhaps surprisingly\, she creates her captivating art primarily with her iPhone\, visualizing\, creating and processing her images with the camera she carries in her pocket. She also creates some of her images with her Holga\, a medium-format film camera. Julie makes many of her prints using the polymer-photogravure process. Drawn to this alternative method of printmaking\, she also employs other complimentary techniques during the intaglio printing process\, such as chine-collé and à la poupée. About her work\, Julie has said: “My images share the way I see the world\, its soft tenderness and extravagant beauty\, its agonizing loss and exquisite aging. I see the overlooked aspects of life and nature. There is small and precious beauty in the unseen\, a part of everyday life that can go missing because it is not prominent\, yet has much to teach us.” Julie’s work has been shown in a number of juried exhibitions in various galleries across the country. \nRobert Adams exhibit Thalia continues in the lower gallery until December 7th. Thalia by Robert Adams has been released as a hard cover book and is available. Complete show info is on the LightBox website\, http://lightbox-photographic.c…

SUMMARY:Michael Strain "Agua – Water Infrastructure - Oaxaca\, Chiapas\, Guanajuato\, Yucatán and Guatemala"
DESCRIPTION:Michael Strain “Agua – Water Infrastructure –\nOaxaca\, Chiapas\, Guanajuato\, Yucatán and Guatemala” \nJanuary 4 – February 27\, 2025\nArtist reception on January 4 from 1-4 pm. \n\nThe O’Brien Photo Gallery\n2833 Willamette\, Ste. B.\nEugene\, OR 97405\nPhone: (541) 729-3572\nOpen weekdays from 1-5 pm.\nCall to be sure we’re open or to makes special viewing arrangements.\nhttps://www.waltobrien.net/the… \nThese images are abstracts from our built environment “infrastructure” highlighting the means of water distribution in places where I’ve travelled including Oaxaca\, Chiapas\, Guanajuato\, and the Yucatan in Mexico\, and the Sololá (Lake Atitlan) Department of Guatemala. \nThe viewer is invited to consider the objects in the photograph as compositional elements… rather than being the subject of the photograph per se. In this approach the intended subject is the composition itself\, comprised of the geometrical\, texture\, color relationships\, and cultural associations of the various objects. The photograph is an “abstract” or sample seen from a particular point of view. \nHowever\, implicit in the series is recognition of the global challenges and equity of obtaining safe drinking water and the illustration of some of the means by which people have adapted. \nThese photographs in this group were all taken with an iPhone. \nGrowing up in Montana\, Michael Strain was first introduced to photography and darkroom work by his grandmother at about age eight. In college he managed the darkroom in his dorm while narrowly missing the popular photography courses taught at MIT by Minor White. In the mid-1970’s he began working with large format cameras and produced a series of one-of-a-kind 8×10 color Polaroid images taken with a home-built view camera. \nRecently retired as an instrumentation scientist at the University of Oregon\, Strain has renewed his photographic efforts\, but now using an iPhone as a primary tool. The phone is kind of like a miniature view camera with a wide-angle lens. It is appealing because of its small\, inconspicuous size making it perfect for international travel and spontaneity. Modern ink-jet printers capture the crisp\, brilliant colors that drew him to the color Polaroid medium of days gone by. \nhttps://www.photozonegallery.c… \nEmail: michael.strain@gmail.com \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/micha… \n

SUMMARY:Marcieline Novatore: Come Worry With Me
DESCRIPTION:Marcieline Novatore: Come Worry With Me \nFebruary 1 through February 28\, 2025\nArtist reception and book release party: February 1 \nFranklin Foto\n8953 N Lombard St\, Portland\, OR 97203\nWednesday – Sunday\, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.\nhttps://www.franklinfoto.org/ \nIn this broken world\, we find hope in the worry we have\, because we’re bleak\, uncertain\, and somehow still beautiful. These photos are all we have left\, changing with every passing second\, and they should make you worry—worry with everything you’ve ever desired\, regretted\, feared\, and even hoped for. You can’t feel one without the other. Hope and worry—one feeds the other. For too long\, we’ve only shown the happy photographs\, pretending everything’s fine. Now\, we need to capture the uneasy lives\, tiredness and the things we’ve tried to ignore. To forget them would be to forget what’s left of us. So\, hold on tight to each other\, show up when it counts\, because it’s the stubborn hope that can tear the crummy monsters down. The old record plays\, its needle stretching out of tune\, dust rising with every spin. We watch the sun sink on our broken horizon\, the last light exposing everything we’ve been too blind to see. Our stubborn hope trumps lazy greed. Hope and worry—they’re tangled up now\, and all you have to do is look around to understand that truth. \nArtist Website: https://mzana.bigcartel.com/pr…

DESCRIPTION:Jim Curnyn: San Joaquin Valley Fog – Fresno California \nFebruary 1st – 27th\, 2025 \nOpening Reception\, Friday\, February 7th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.\nRefreshments served \n\nDot Dotson’s Gallery\n1886 Willamette St.\, Eugene\, OR 97401\n(541) 485-1771\nMonday through Friday\, 10 am – 5:30 pm\, Saturday 10 am – 1 pm\ndotdotsons.com\nFree and open to the public \nPhotographer\, Jim Curnyn’s\, use of fog as a light source is well documented in this photography exhibit. In the use of day fog you will notice the blocking out of unwanted background\, objects in the middle ground appear as various shades of grey\, and the isolated subject stands out. In this exhibit are rural\, farm\, city\, and railroad themes with a speeding Amtrak Passenger train frozen on a railroad bridge with the background blocked out\, empty railroad tracks at the downtown Fresno Amtrak Station\, various city street scenes under foggy weather\, some scenes of people in fog\, and some attention given to rural farm scenes. \nSpectrum Art Gallery member\, Jim Curnyn\, is a Fresno based fine art photographer whose work encompasses cityscapes\, farm scenes\, architecture\, railroad environment\, Fresno historical landmarks\, Washington DC Area\, West Virginia and France. \nMuch of his work is done in dense fog as can be seen in this exhibit at the Dot Dotsons Gallery. Jim incorporates the use of fog in his photographs as a means to isolate his subject by blocking out the unwanted background\, muting distant objects into various shades of grey forms\, causing the viewer’s eye to go to the isolated subject. Photographs made in foggy conditions create mood and can become a secondary subject to the photograph itself. \njimcurnynphotography.com

SUMMARY:Phil Bard: American Desert
DESCRIPTION:Phil Bard: American Desert \nFebruary 6th -28th\nFirst Thursday Feb. 6 until 7:45PM\nReception and Artist’s Talk Saturday February 8th 1:30-4PM\nArtist’s Talk at 2PM \nAugen Gallery\n716 NW Davis St\nPortland\, OR 97209\nTuesday-Saturday 11-5PM\n503 546-5056\naugengallery.com \nMost of America west of the Rockies is covered with desert. With few exceptions it is a stark and brittle place\, and things that live there must be on their game at all times in order to survive. Though it appears battle hardened\, the desert itself is ironically fragile. It requires years to heal from wounds\, whether delivered by harsh weather or by man’s clumsiness. One particular part of the western desert\, the Colorado Plateau\, is completely unique in the world. There are endless sculpted red rock canyons and towers and massive stacks of varying rock layers\, geologic timelines of the region’s diverse history. It is a humbling experience to travel there. We as Americans are blessed to be caretakers of this phenomenal place\, and it is up to us to make sure that while we walk and live on it\, we remain inspired by its beauty and uniqueness\, and tread accordingly. \nI began producing photographs in my dad’s darkroom at age 8\, which was essentially the kitchen at our house with the windows covered. It was lots of work but fun and it fostered in me a love of image making. Later\, after working for years in a different trade\, I found my way to photography school and eventually a career as a commercial photographer. All along I had been producing my own work\, landscapes in black and white. In 2000 when the first serious digital cameras and printers began to appear\, I began to move away from shooting film and using large format cameras for that work. As the rest of the world eventually went digital\, I opened my own digital imaging business in Portland and did scanning and printing for a variety of businesses and artists until retiring in 2016. Today I consider myself fortunate to be able to travel to places that inspire and attempt to live once again in the world of an 8 year old. \nPhil Bard Photography\nhttps://philbard.com\nphil@philbard.com

SUMMARY:A Clothesline show by students of Walt O'Brien's Platinum Classes
DESCRIPTION:A Clothesline show by students of Walt O’Brien’s Platinum Classes \nShowing from March 7 to March 28\nReception on First Friday\, March 7 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm (calendar). \nFramin’ Artworks\n505 High Street\nEugene\, OR 97401\n(541) 683-8111\nOpen Monday – Friday 10-5\, Saturday 10-3\nhttps://framinartworks.com/ \nAround June of 2017 Walt O’Brien began teaching the old process of platinum/palladium printing at his lab. The class has 2 to 3 students per class. Since then there have been 35 students\, many of which have taken the class multiple times. In 2019 Walt’s gallery hosted a clothesline show of student work up to that point. \nRecently\, Framin’ Artworks invited Walt’s students to have a clothesline show in their gallery in downtown Eugene. 15 to 20 students will be represented in the show and it will be on the first Friday Art Walk of Eugene. \nWalt will be there to answer questions and a video presentation by Bostick and Sullivan will demonstrate the process. Platinum/Palladium printing has been done since the late 1800’s and is still practiced by many photographers. \nWalt continues to offer the class on a regular basis. Students learn how to make a digital negative\, coat emulsions\, control contrast\, expose and process prints using a modified printing method. Bostick and Sullivan of Santa Fe New Mexico is one of the suppliers of materials and has modified the process in recent years. Walt uses their newer process to teach the class. \nO’Brien Photo Imaging is located at 2833 Willamette in Eugene. Contact Walt for more information at: picmac1945@gmail.com or visit his website at \nhttps://www.waltobrien.net/cus….
