Remember\, that all auction proceeds go toward promoting and sponsoring photography exhibits and events by PAO\, as they have for the past 45 years. Our success is directly due to the generosity of many fine photographers donating work\, giving back to the medium we all love\, as well as the generosity and commitment of our bidders. \nPlease share this with others! \nWe can’t reach out to everyone who might be interested having one of these fine photographs in their art collection\, so feel free to share with friends\, neighbors\, businesses\, art collectors\, or whomever you think might like be interested.

He studied audio-visual communication at Indiana University- Bloomington\, and visual arts at Lane Community College in Eugene\, Oregon. \nPatrick is a member of PhotoZone Gallery in Eugene and has shown photographs locally and across the United States. He lives in Eugene\, Oregon. \n“I have been hiking on Spencer Butte since I moved to Eugene in 1994. First with my dog Jasper\, and for most of the years with Coffee\, a loyal Gordon Setter. Although the physical trail changes little from year to year the scenery is always unique. The seasons bring their changes and the light is always the main factor in photographs. The cloud and fog levels offer some of the most dramatic visions as they interact with the light. This is an ongoing project\, there’s often something interesting to photograph and a new dog to train. See you on the trail!” \nhttps://www.westernvisionphoto…

SUMMARY:Jim Lommasson\, What I Carry: A collaborative photo+writing storytelling project with Portland’s Street Community
DESCRIPTION:Jim Lommasson\, What I Carry: A collaborative photo+writing storytelling project with Portland’s Street Community \nOPEN/CLOSE: May 1 – 31\, 2025 \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, May 3\, 3-5 pm \nStreet Poets + Gallery Talk: Saturday\, May 10\, 3-5pm.\nStreet Poets + What I Carry Video: Saturday\, May 31\, 3-5pm. \nPLACE Galleria\nPLACE 735 NW 18th Ave\,\nPortland\, OR 97209\nPhone: (503) 334-2080\nGallery Hours:\nMonday – Friday: 8 AM–6 PM\nSaturday: Open for Reception and poetry events\nSunday: Closed\nfree admission \n  \nwhat i carry \n\nA collaborative photo+writing storytelling project with Portland’s Unhoused Community \nI believe in the power of art.\nSince 2010\, I have dedicated my work to collaborative projects with communities displaced from their homes and their homelands. These projects encompass the stories of refugees\, genocide\, and Holocaust survivors who bear the burdens of the diaspora. \nMy “What We Carried” projects examine themes of departure and the enduring impact it leaves behind. Each project deepens my connection with the communities with whom I collaborate. What I Carry focuses on Portland’s unhoused community. \nThese photo/writings serve as a poignant reminder that any of us could find ourselves in need of shelter\, should one or two circumstances in our lives shift. \nThrough this process of personal storytelling with object/photographs with the participants’ handwriting\, giving voice to the those who are rarely heard illuminate the resilience and humanity behind each object – and the person carrying it. \nThis project with the unsheltered members of our community aims to remind us of our shared humanity and that we are all one family. \nIt’s been said that my What We Carried projects “humanize” the refugee. \nBut it’s not the refugee (or the homeless person) that needs to be humanized\, \n…it is us. \n– Jim Lommasson \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Kathy Radie\, Outlawed Territory \nMay 10 – June 11\, 2025 \nLightBox Photographic Gallery & Fine Printing\n1045 Marine Drive\nAstoria\, Oregon 97103\n(503) 468-0238\nHours: Wednesday – Saturday 12 pm to 5 pm \nLightBox Photographic Gallery opens Kathy Radie’s “Outlawed Territory” from 4-7pm on Saturday\, May 10th. LightBox invites you to share the night with LightBox Guild member Kathy Radie who exhibits a collection of work in the LightBox Upper Gallery. \n“The back roads of America’s West always have a story to tell. The story becomes more interesting as the road narrows and the gravel roughens. \nThrough my lens\, I capture fragments of forgotten dreams and emerging stories. Each frame is a piece of a puzzle made up of abandoned ambitions\, heartbreak\, the enduring beauty of the land\, and the resilience of those who dare to settle in this rugged region. \nWho were the dreamers that envisioned a church\, a business\, or a ranch in these locations? And who\, even today\, tries to make a go of it in this demanding yet breathtaking landscape? \nMy photographs provide a fleeting glimpse into a faded past\, filled with secrets and layered stories that may never be fully uncovered. They also capture present pursuits rich with the promise of untold chapters waiting to be written.” \nKathy Radie \n| Instagram: kathyradie1 | kathyradie1@gmail.com | \nBachelor of Arts in Fine Art Photography and Art History\, The University of Iowa

SUMMARY:Christopher Rauschenberg: Backstage at Elizabeth Leach Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Christopher Rauschenberg: Backstage at Elizabeth Leach Gallery \nApril 30 – May 31\, 2025\nArtist talk in conversation with Malia Jensen: May 17\, 11 am \nElizabeth Leach Gallery\n417 NW 9th Avenue\nPortland\, OR 97209\n503-224-0521\nwww.ElizabethLeach.com\nTues – Sat: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM & By Appointment \nElizabeth Leach Gallery is pleased to present Backstage\, an exhibition of photographs by Christopher Rauschenberg (ChristopherRauschenberg.com). \nDrawn from Studio Photography\, Rauschenberg’s longest-running series\, Backstage gives viewers a glimpse into an essential aspect of the art ecosystem\, the artist’s studio. As the child of artists and a curator himself\, Rauschenberg has frequented studios for his entire life\, and thus is particularly well-situated to draw the curtain aside for his audience. \nBorn of a feeling that the public isn’t shown behind the scenes often enough\, these works invite viewers into the studios of Portland-based artists\, as well as that of Rauschenberg’s mother\, Susan Weil. Through individual images and combinations that create fictional spaces\, Rauschenberg sets the stage to allow for discovery of these places of creation. With his deep involvement in Portland\, Oregon’s art scene\, Rauschenberg extends a welcome\, allowing us to look over his shoulder and engage with the artists around us. \nArtists whose studios are featured in Backstage include Katherine Ace\, Ebenezer Galluzzo\, Malia Jensen\, Joanne Radmilovich Kollman\, Henk Pander\, Laura Ross Paul\, Marie Watt\, and Susan Weil. \nBased in Portland\, Oregon\, Christopher Rauschenberg received his BA from Evergreen State College in Olympia\, Washington. His work has been exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester\, MA)\, the Chicago Cultural Center (Chicago\, IL)\, the International Center of Photography (New York\, NY) and the George Eastman House (Rochester\, NY)\, among many other major institutions. An exceptionally active leader in the Northwest arts community\, Rauschenberg co-founded both Nine Gallery and the photography nonprofit Blue Sky Gallery (Portland\, Oregon).

SUMMARY:Michele Thompson\, I Will Not Hurt Myself/I Will Not Hurt Others
DESCRIPTION:Michele Thompson\, I Will Not Hurt Myself/I Will Not Hurt Others \nJune 7th – June 30th\nOpening reception: June 7\, 2025\, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. \nFranklin Foto\n8953 N Lombard St\nPortland\, OR 97203\nWednesday – Sunday\, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.\nhttps://www.franklinfoto.org/ \nFranklin FOTO is pleased to announce our exhibition for the month of June. I Will Not Hurt Myself/I Will Not Hurt Others\, will run from June 7 to June 30 and will feature photography by Michele Thompson from her book of the same name. \nI Will Not Hurt Myself/I Will Not Hurt Others combines traditional photography with the abstract and text to talk about suddenly finding oneself in the middle space\, freed of personal history\, with both passion and apprehension for the future and distrust in the contentment of the now; that it could all be an illusion\, something to be snatched away at any moment. \n“When I was young\, I lusted after the freedom that would come with being an adult. In some ways\, it feels like my generation has never completely grown up. Holding onto that inner child maybe isn’t such a bad thing. But it feels like there was a box that didn’t get checked. I kept waiting for some line of demarcation that never came…” \nAn opening reception is scheduled for Saturday\, June 7\, from 5-8 p.m. Ms. Thompson’s work will be on display through the month of June. \nFranklin FOTO is a community darkroom and gallery space located in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood. SUMMARY:Landry Major\, Standing Still in a Constant State of Departure
DESCRIPTION:Landry Major\, Standing Still in a Constant State of Departure \nWednesday\, June 18\, 2025\, 12:00pm to 1pm \nPortland Art Museum Photography Council Lunchtime Talk Series\n1119 SW Park Ave.\nPortland\, OR 97205\nIn the Trustee Room\, 4th floor in the Mark building\nwww.portlandartmuseum.org / 503 226 2811 \n\nStanding Still in a Constant State of Departure\nLandry Major and Cash Kasper \nIn her lunchtime talk\, Landry Major will discuss the photographic series\nmade in harmony with her son\, Cash. \nOn Christmas Day of 2023 her beloved son died. \nThis collaboration came out of the need to honor their relationship. To show\nhow\, even after he left the physical world\, they are still connected. The\nseries title is from a line Cash wrote in a notebook Landry found after his\npassing. She believes it was his feeling of always being on the verge of\nleaving this life but standing still staying for her. \nThese images are double and triple exposures comprised of collodion wet\nplate\, Polachrome slide film\, Polaroids\, gold and silver leaf on vellum and\nfilm images. Landry and Cash’s images blended into a vision of the new place he inhabits. \nLove that defies space and time. Hands that reach out to find each other\nbetween realms. Traveling beyond intense grief into understanding that they\nare still together. \nLandry Major is a photographic artist who splits her time between Los Angeles\, California and Portland\, Oregon. Landry has won honors from \nPhotolucida’s Critical Mass\, the Julia Margaret Cameron Award\, and Lurzer’s Archive. Her work has been seen in The New York Times\, Time Magazine\, AAP Magazine\, Black and White Magazine (UK)\, Analog Forever Magazine\, and Western Art Collector Magazine. Landry’s work has been exhibited at the Center for Photographic Art\, Carmel\, CA; Griffin Museum of Photography\, Winchester\, MA; A Smith Gallery\, Johnson City\, TX; SE Center for Photography\, Greenville\, SC; and PhotoPlace Gallery\, Middlebury\, VT. \nhttps://www.landrymajor.com/

SUMMARY:Christopher Rauschenberg\, Gathering: A Photographer’s Collection
DESCRIPTION:Christopher Rauschenberg\, Gathering: A Photographer’s Collection \nJuly 26 – November 23\, 2025 \nJordan Schnitzer Museum of Art\n1430 Johnson Lane\, Eugene\, OR 97403\n541-346-3027\nWednesdays 11am – 8pm\, Thursdays through Sundays 11am – 5pm \nGathering: A Photographer’s Collection presents a wide-ranging selection of photographs from the personal collection of Portland\, Oregon based photographer and curator\, Christopher Rauschenberg. Over five decades\, Rauschenberg has compiled a truly distinctive archive of photographs encompassing a wide array of themes\, styles\, uses of the medium\, and range of subjects and content. This important resource represents a diverse mix of international and nationally emerging and established photographers. \nRauschenberg typically acquires photographs directly from the artists or from non-profit community-based arts organizations exhibiting or representing their works. \nRauschenberg has also traveled extensively and participated for decades as a highly regarded reviewer of photography portfolios at international gatherings of specialists who utilize and support opportunities for working creative photographers. \nIn Gathering\, one will find a wealth of individual points of view that\, when engaged\, may broaden each of our own visions: whether those considered perspectives are personal\, familiar\, social\, cultural\, political\, or spiritual. \nChristopher Rauschenberg reflects on his building of the collection: \n“At the core of what I’m doing is acquiring prints directly from photographers. That’s where I get my real satisfaction in collecting. With photography\, one literally sees the world through someone else’s eyes\, and we each have a different way of looking at the world around us. Having seen the work of thousands of photographers\, I’ve had a great many opportunities to discover new ways of seeing. That has really been the primary enrichment of my life\, and I am excited to share that with you through this exhibition.” \nGathering: A Photographer’s Collection was curated by JSMA Associate Curator of Photography\, Thom Sempere.

Their diverse and joint explorations of the visual image have a poetic resonance. \nLUMENS by Kate Jordahl: “Lumens are a unique and magical re-imagination of the potential of silver gelatin paper. With organic lumens\, plants interact with photo paper in unexpected ways\, resulting in a range of magical colors. My grid lumens are both windows onto the world and an invitation for the viewer to complete the line from frame to frame. I am interested in the grid as a form and the continuation of the frame and the line from block to block. I find it important to be open to both the control and the role of chance in my work. I love working digitally but also need the physical world in my artwork that alternative processes allow.” \nTHE ENDLESS SPHERE OF TIME by Geir Jordahl: “Circles complete the stories we make in our passing—images of moments in the sphere of time that connect to everything. Our world is round. Eyes\, earth\, sun\, moon—all round\, all connected. Perception is round. Life\, death\, rebirth— all round. It is in these cycles that I have hope despite the darkness. In the sphere of time and the circle of life\, death is overcome\, briefly\, in every image I make.” \n“The inspiration for THE ENDLESS SPHERE OF TIME comes from life itself. It is my effort to see my place in the world and the cosmos using my camera as an instrument to explore my consciousness. THE ENDLESS SPHERE OF TIME is a journey through life’s trials and tribulations – hopes\, fears\, dreams\, and losses. It is my hope that the pictures in dialogue with Rolf Jacobsen’s poetry take viewers into a conversation with their own path and place in the world. Together\, these elements come together to tell a story of seeing the world through loss and beauty.” \nGeir and Kate Jordahl have Masters of Fine Arts Degrees in Photography from Ohio University\, Athens\, Ohio. In 1983\, they founded the PhotoCentral Program in Hayward\, California\, and were directors of PhotoCentral until 2020. Kate is a Professor Emerita of Photography at Foothill College\, Los Altos Hills\, California. The Jordahls now operate True North Editions\, based in Bellingham\, Washington. \nTheir 2025 publications include “The Endless Sphere of Time” with spherical photographs by Geir Jordahl and “Poetry in Motion” with the equine photographs of Oliver Klink. Both books have won numerous awards\, including a Gold Medal in Cover Design\, the 2025 PubWest Book Design Awards for “Poetry in Motion\,” and a Gold Medal in the Nautilus Awards for “The Endless Sphere of Time.” \nhttps://www.truenortheditions…. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/katej…

SUMMARY:Fritz Liedtke's Crossroads at Trinity Cathedral
DESCRIPTION:Fritz Liedtke’s Crossroads at Trinity Cathedral \nJune 28-August 28\, 2025\nFirst Thursday Reception and Artist Talk: August 7\, 5-7pm\nTalk begins at 5:30pm \nTrinity Cathedral\n147 NW 19th Ave\nPortland\, OR 97209 \nArtist Fritz Liedtke Explores the Terrain of Faith and Transformation in Crossroads \nIn his new exhibition Crossroads\, artist Fritz Liedtke explores how belief shapes identity—and what happens when it begins to shift. Through three new series—Sacred\, Lost\, and The Weight of History—he reflects on how faith helps us endure\, opens us to others\, and transforms us through loss and transformation. \nThrough a fusion of photography\, encaustic\, and mixed media\, Liedtke constructs richly layered works that often borrow from the visual language of traditional religious iconography\, while reimagining them in unconventional\, contemporary forms. His materials and methods are as textured as the themes themselves: wax\, gold leaf\, photographic prints\, paper\, and embedded objects create surfaces that feel at once ancient and intimate. \nThese works do not offer easy answers. Instead\, they ask searching questions: What does it cost to cling to a belief? How do we love people different than ourselves? When belief begins to unravel\, what might we lose\, discover\, and become in the process? How does anyone endure discrimination\, oppression\, displacement\, and still carry on — even today? \nIn Crossroads\, Liedtke maps out a deeply personal—yet universally resonant—journey through doubt\, reverence\, memory\, and meaning. It is an invitation to pause\, reflect\, and perhaps recognize a bit of our own story in the layers. \nJoin Fritz for the First Thursday Reception and Artist Talk: \nFritz will talk about the process of making this work\, the stories behind the 3 projects\, and give a guided tour with lots of time for Q&A. \nAugust 7\, 5-7pm. Talk begins at 5:30pm. \nTrinity Cathedral\n147 NW 19th Ave\, Portland\, OR 97209 \nOpen Viewing Hours: \nDuring the week\, viewing times are: Sundays 8:30 am-12:00 pm; Tuesdays–Thursdays 10:00 am-3:00 pm \nThe show is located in the beautiful\, historic Trinity Cathedral\, in NW Portland: 147 NW 19th Ave\, Portland\, OR 97209 \nEnter through the central courtyard to the front door and ring the buzzer. SUMMARY:A Preservation of Character by Megan Sinclair
DESCRIPTION:A Preservation of Character by Megan Sinclair \nAugust 6-September 28\nOpening Reception- First Thursday\, August 7th\, 5-9pm \n\n[things/found] Atelier\n1704 NW Johnson Street\nPortland\, 97209\n(503) 512-9719\nwww.thingsfoundatelier.com \nWednesday\, August 6 – 12-7pm\nThursday\, August 7 – 4-9pm\nFriday\, August 8 – 11am-4pm\nClosed August 9-15\nSaturday\, August 16 12pm-7pm\nSunday\, August 17 12pm-7pm\nAugust 18 and beyond\, we’ll be open\nThursday-Friday-Saturday 12pm to 7pm \n\nA Preservation of Character \nAn exhibition of black/white analogue photography by Megan Sinclair \nPortland\, Oregon— A Preservation of Character will be the grand opening exhibition at NW Portland’s newest gallery space\, [things/found] Atelier. The public is invited to attend the opening reception and meet the artist on First Thursday\, August 7th\, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. \n“I long to see the world as I once did. I long to feel the world as I once did. \nIn A Preservation of Character\, I use the act of removal to incite vulnerability. I remove my clothing\, a physical layer of protection. I remove the hair from my head\, a totem of gender. I attempt to let go of protective behavior\, expression\, and thought. What I feel shields me from danger in the outside world has become a part of who I present myself as. \nHere\, I am neighbored only by textures\, shapes\, and light\, leaving me to observe and interact with myself. Who am I without these defenses? \nThis is an exercise in honesty\, and a longing for innocence. These are intimate moments of self-reflection\, and are presented to the viewer out of a need to share unguarded experience.” \nMegan Sinclair is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in analogue self-portrait photography that delves into the interconnectedness of body\, mind\, and environment. Through her work\, she uses vulnerability and image making as tools for processing and navigating personal trauma. Megan constructs in-home sets\, curating intimate spaces where distractions are minimized and self-expression feels safe. \nA 2020 graduate of California State University\, Sacramento\, with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography\, Megan’s projects have since been showcased internationally. Her work communicates emotional narratives and invites viewers into a dialogue about resilience. She currently resides in Oregon\, where she continues to create work that encourages a more open conversation of the human experience. \nwww.megansinclair.com \n[things/found] Atelier is half art gallery and half art/vintage store attached to the studio for local Portland artist\, Angel O’Brien. The gallery and store are open Thursday through Saturday noon-7pm\, as well as by appointment or whimsy.
