SUMMARY:The Art of Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland \nLecture at Pro Photo Supply: March 27\, 2025\nIn-person workshop in the Hood River area: March 30th\, 2025 \nPro Photo Supply\n1112 NW 19th Ave\nPortland\, OR 97209 \nhttps://prophotosupply.com/ \n$25 – $135 (Eventbrite) \n\nPhotography has the power to freeze time\, to capture the world and reality. In most people’s minds\, photography has to be truthful to reality. It has to depict a scene\, atmosphere\, or event accurately. But photography is so much more than a simple tool to document our lives… \nPhotography is also a way to express ourselves and our point of view\, to share our messages. Photography allows us to change what we see based on our emotions and intent. Photography can be abstract and minimalistic. Photography is art. \nLong exposure is a technique that embraces this mindset: it transforms reality into something else\, into a dialogue between the artist\, the subject\, and the viewer. By stretching the time used to capture a single image\, the photographer includes movement in their art: water becomes smooth\, clouds create long silky streaks\, trees blur out in the wind… the effects are endless. \nLed by Sony Artisan of Imagery\, Thibault Roland\, this event consists of two sessions. \nThe first session is a virtual lecture on long exposure\, during which you will learn the process and what equipment you need to create breathtaking images using this unique technique. If you are not able to join this virtual session\, it will be recorded and provided to all registered attendees. \nThe second part of this event consists of a half-day\, hands-on workshop in Hood River area\, where you will have the opportunity to capture beautiful long-exposure images and benefit from Thibault’s in-person advice to take your skills to the next level. During this workshop\, we will capture scenes located along the Columbia River utilizing the beautiful landscapes found along the gorge. \nNorthwest Sony rep Dan Hawk will be present to bring several of Sony’s most popular lenses and cameras for this style of photography for attendees to get hands-on with during this workshop! These cameras and lenses will be limited and loaned out on a first come first serve basis. \nWhat to Bring*:\n• Camera (with bulb mode capability necessary)\n• Lens (16-35mm and 24-70mm recommended)\n• Memory card (bring extra if you want to try a Sony camera!)\n• Extra Batteries\n• A shutter release (can be wired or remote)\n• ND Filter (13- to 16- stop recommended) – these can be screw-mount or square; more details during the lecture!\n• Step up ring to use the filter on multiple lenses\n• Sturdy Tripod \n*if you need any piece of equipment\, please check out Pro Photo Supply to purchase or rent what gear you may need. Your order confirmation email for this event will even include a code for 25% off any rentals placed for this workshop. \nDon’t miss this chance to refine your skills and explore new photographic perspectives! \n\n6:30 PM – 8:30 PM \nVirtual Lecture – March 27th \nPrice: $25 \n________________________________________ \nA lecture on long exposure\, during which you will learn the process\, skills\, and equipment you need to take your skills to the next level and create breathtaking images using this unique technique.
