What does spirituality mean to you? For Teresa Flowers, it is a continuous creative journey that has led her to create her vision of God, and she is inviting you on this journey with her show titled Goddess. By using a photography process called albumen, she has hand-created images that go beyond what a mere photograph can share and has brought her dreams and visions into our reality.

Flowers is one of only a handful of photographers who use the albumen process in their work. The process involves coating a piece of paper in the emulsion of egg white known as albumen and sodium or ammonium chloride, allowing it to dry, coating it in silver nitrate and water, dry again, place in a frame under a negative and place in the sun for exposure. When this process is complete, you will see what appears to be an aged print.

Flowers’ process is unique as she creates her prints then will add additional hand drawings as she sees fit. But the most impressive part is that her prints are 30 x 40 in size, making an already lengthy printing process, even more, labor-intensive but visually rewarding.

Media is invited to attend her opening reception taking place on December 7th from 6 pm – 9 pm at her studio located at 1472 NE Alberta Street.

This show is in its beginning stages with additional ideas in the works.

Originally from Salt Lake City, UT, Flowers made a name for herself and moved to L.A. to enhance and share her skills with other artists. Her path eventually led her to Portland, where she is embracing the life and culture of the Pacific Northwest while continuing to build awareness in the local art community.
