“Since 2011, I have been making handmade prints using the 19th century platinum/palladium process. Most recently I have wanted to introduce color into my prints without abandoning the beauty of the platinum/palladium process. This collection is primarily printed using two different techniques which separate the color from the black in an image. Black is printed with platinum/palladium while color is printed with the 19th century single or tri-color gum bichromate process or printed using modern digital archival pigment inks. Platinum/palladium over archival pigment ink requires two layers for each print while gum bichromate over platinum/palladium can require four to six layers for each print. This has been a joyful exploration of color.” ~ Michael Puff
